Charities and not-for-profit as opposed to regular businesses that are for-profit. A charitable group can have paid employees, but they do not make money. I'm not sure how you could make quilts for charity and make money on it under IRS rules. I think it's better to just make quilts (or other things) to give as part of your yearly giving. At least that's the way it is for me.
