I've found cutting mats in the kitchen dept at $1 stores, two in a pkg., cuts easily and works good.

I have found them in dollar stores in Oklahoma, but not in California so far. So, every time I visit the grands in Tulsa, I always make a stop at the dollar store and pick up a few pkgs.

Another good idea for those mats. I cut up three of them to use as bottoms in grocery bags I made out of ticking fabric. They're just sturdy enough. I cut them with a ruler and an exacto knife....two passes of the knife and had a nice clean edge.

At Christmas time the dollar store sometimes get the plastic mats in. If they don't sell well you can pick up a bunch of them for half off after Christmas. That's what I did a couple years ago. Kicking myself for not buying every one they had left. If I get low and desperate, I go to Walmart and buy them. They are usually $1.99 each and you can usually find some with a limited design on them. And I keep a lookout for them at garage sales too. They do come in handy!
Thought for EVERY Day: You know all those things you've always wanted to do? You should go do them.
