I saw this bag and had to have the pattern. Has anyone made it before? I'm not making the duffel bottom but the basic grocery bag type bottom. I want to make 3 of them for friends. This is my first one. I need your help in deciding how to quilt these great fruit ladies? I'm used to making quilts, not bags. Any suggestions?

There are several market bag patterns if you didn't want to cut up the design.

Just do a loose loopy free motion. I quilt bags like anything else I make.

As you can see by the first photo I already have the layering done and am just ready for the quilting before I sew up the sides. If I do the loopy design what color would you suggest that would not detract from the overall fabric pattern?

You could use clear thread.
It's really gonna be a cute bag.
Please show us when you get it done!

I would probably quilt:
(1) right under their bottoms
(2) under the bottom of the blankets and towels
(3) quilt vertical lines on the blankets/towels
(4) then do some swirlies in the sky in blue.
And let the ladies be all in their glory!
(5) and then stipple in the top and bottom borders.....

If I were going to go loopy all over, I would try the clear thread....I've used it once and felt it was painful to use. Haven't tried again.
