My HST have no bias edges since they are cut from squares. I TOO make them larger, then starch and press and then trim them down to size. Choose what is easiest for you to work with.

So many ways to do the same quilt ... now to chose one! Thanks for posting all the links to techniques for this quilt design. I have some very modern fabrics that I think would be great for this pattern.

I prefer the 1/2 square triangle method and will use that on future chevron quilts.
Thank you! That was very helpful.

A chevron is on my list of things I'd like to do.

I just finished one done with the rectangles instead of the triangles. Right now I am working on another one. My chevrons go diagonally, and I like that look. No waste either. No bias on the edges. I made it with 3.5x6.5 rectangles sewn together into 6.5x6.5 squares. I used 64 blocks. Half of each block was the black design fabric. The other half several different prints. The one I am making now is the main print with just two other prints. (easier calculation) Hopefully my picture will attach. )

I like the strip method, because I don't like HST'S, and because using strips allowed me to made the chevron stripes different widths. I alternated wide and narrow strips, and I really liked the final result. It was a lot like krafty14's EQ design above, but with the white stripes about 1/3 the width of the blue and grey ones.

Personally I prefer the strip method, so much easier and faster than HSTs, and I thought the effect was just as good and none of the problems with using HSTs

Thanks so much for your answers. I'm going to do the rectangle method.

Have a great day!
