Chicken or the Egg? Block or Fabric?
#1
Which do you choose first?
Do you know what you want to do and find fabrics that would play along?
Or do you have the fabric all lined up then decided the block style.
For me I usually have the fabric first, then it "speaks" to me to tell me what it wants to look like.
I have found if I have the block first I take FOREVER trying to decide what fabrics to use.
So which goes first for you? The chicken the Egg, the cart the horse? the Fabric or the pattern?

I get the pattern first, then pick the fabric to go with it and fig. out the colors I want to do the design in. This way I pick out just enough fabric and a little more..lol. I like doing it this way because then I can fig. the colors as I go.

I'm with you, I pick the fabric then let it decide what it wants to look like. Most of the time I fall in love with the fabric or have an idea of colors or fabric theme, buy the fabric and THEN decide what pattern.

I am a newbie, but I seem to get my inspiration more from patterns than fabric... at least at this point.
I will be curious as to if this process changes as I become more seasoned. Maybe one day the fabric will start to "speak" more to me and the patterns less, but for now, it's the pattern that talks to me!
