Question Christmas ornaments using selvedges -- need some ideas and pics

My Guild is having a holiday dinner. One of the traditions is that each member brings an ornament and/or a 12.5 in. holiday block to trade.

I would like to make an ornament using some of the selvedges I have saved. Any ideas from anyone?

Thanks.

Maybe a log cabin using the selvages? Or some kind of star? I'm sorry, that's all I can think of.

Many selvages have those colored reference dots. How about using them as the lights on a Christmas tree. Drape the selvage like light strings. I think I saw one either on this board on on the web somewhere.

Some one posted a chicken pin cushion using the selvedges so just add a hanging ribbon and you have a very nice ornament....I think that was a funky chicken posted......

Carol Doak has a paper pieced house ornament. You could use selvage dots for "lights" across the roof or "flowers" on the lawn. Scroll down to the bottom of the free patterns:
