I am looking for a pattern to make my aunt a wallhanging for Christmas. I want it to be at leas 24in and then I'll add some borders. I'm thinking maybe to do the Carptenter's Wheel. ( Her father, husband and of course, Jesus were all carpenters) and I really like the pattern. I will be making it in Christmas fabrics, green, red and some gold. Does anyone have a block pattern that they love or a good idea for what I should use to make this. I also saw a pattern on the Cache for Heavenly Stars that I thought would be pretty.

I'm really having a hard time deciding on this. Please help... :?:

Hey Colletta,

I like the carpenters wheel idea, with the family connection and all.

What if you enlarged it to 2o inches with a border of the same fabric as your background so it kind of floats on the square. Then added an applique bow, kind of like a wreath

Or make two smaller ones and hang them from an applique ribbon with bow like ornaments

This is from the 80's .. fun idea.. for pot holders.. or, as this was, the door hanger for my Grandparents "dorm style " living door.

folded star. only sewing was the point of each fold.

This pattern goes together quickly. If you used one Christmas fabric with a lot of colors this could look really great, or you might be able to modify it by using different fabrics for the star, the squares and the border.
