Default Church Quilt Day Project.....doesn't look right.

Here's the project suggested for this year's quilt day at church. Something doesn't look right to me...maybe the colors selected for the sample? The theme for the day is Amish quilts. Your thoughts?

It certainly looks like an Amish quilt. Not sure what you are questioning, its an old pattern used often and solids and black backgrounds are used often

The black background and solid non-patterned fabrics certainly say "Amish" to me. Could you elaborate a little on what seems "off" to you? Is it something that isn't obvious in the photo?

It's probably looking a little "different" because the black from the block is touching the black sashing creating a secondary pattern. Because it is black, it is more noticeable. I don't see anything else about this pattern. It looks like the usual Hole in the Barn Door block done with solid colours.

I agree with Shelbie, the black and red stripes should be switched around or it should be sashed in red instead of black.

Definitely looks Amish to me - and as an Amish quilt I think it looks good.

i thoughtit looked amish and fine to me... then shelbie pointed out that the pattern is hole in the barn door. silly me! i only saw the huge black diamonds! maybe that is why is doesn't look right to you. i wouldn't change it, though

Pretty. Does it look 'off' because it is dark overall, no real contrast in color values?

I like it. It looks Amish-style to me.

Question, if you were following the pattern pinned to it, those blocks are on point. Is that what doesn't feel right?

What bothers me is the black doesn't look really like a rich black. Maybe it could be the photo. Looks Amish to me.
