Default long arm question

I have started a new quilting project that is a cotton top, warm and natural batting from Joanns and muslin for the back. I changed the needle in my machine before starting with the needles provided by Nolting. The needle seems to be leaving small holes in the quilt and I was wondering if the fabric is to tight or if the frame height would have anything to do with this problem. Any thoughts. Thanks for your time.

What size needle are you using? When you realized there were holes, did you check the tip of the needle to make sure it is not dull? It is better not to have the quilt on tight on the frame because that can cause some problems. Maybe when you wash the quilt after it is done, the holes could disappear for you. Good luck.

In my experience, those holes close up once the quilt is washed.

It is best to keep the quilt somewhat loose; it should not be rolled tight as a drum. The rule-of-thumb is that you should be able to push up underneath with a finger and be able to grab that finger from the top.

Height of the frame would have nothing to do with hole size. Size of needle affects hole size, though.
