Default circles or squares? Quilting ideas for a fence rail?

I have done a couple of FRs that were just lap sized, and I SITD. I'd rather not do that here. I thought about going 1/4" off seam, but I have hard that squared patterns need circular quilting. I am not very experienced at "F"MQing. I have done orange peel, and circles with my walking foot . .
Any suggestions? This is the other one that I'd really like to shine.
thanks so much!

I was told a rectangular pattern use circular or round quilting patterns. Ofcourse there is no hard fast rule. I would actually stich straight through each bar.

Beautiful!! I would do circular to match the round pattern in the light fabric. I hope you will show us when you finish.

I'm not a good one to give advice as I only do straight or wavy lines, but that is certainly a lovely quilt.
