Our guild has a block contest each year, and the blocks are voted on at our annual show. this time the theme is "Circus". I need ideas. I will go out and see if I can find a circus coloring book. have looked around a little on the web. This is going to take some doing, and probably help from quilting friends for me to find patterns. Any suggestions?

Do you have a certain part of the circus you are assigned or just any part ? Go for the Big top

I don't know about patterns but the Toy Box II fabric line has a nice circus print in their Big Top colorway. Do you have color restrictions?

fatquartershop has the fabric if you want to check it out.

I have directions for some circus appliques like tents and clowns, if you would like them, just PM me and I'll email them to you.

If it were me, I'd stay away from clowns (I'm petrified of them) but I'd do acrobats or the big top or the food like cotton candy <- maybe do that in a Moda marble?

I think it is an odd choice for our block contest, but I was not in charge.

I made a clown baby quilt one year, all 3" squares and half-square triangles, using a cross-stitch pattern to tell me which squares should be what colors.
I also just finished a pair of cute elephant applique quilts for twins.
Baby quilts are probably easiest for this theme.
