Default Quilt as Desired

I am in the process of ACTUALLY finishing about 14 quilt tops that I have had around forever. I am going to send at least 1 out to be quilted , but can't afford to send all of then. I have stippled 2 small ones. I have a folk art
appliqued quilt and an old Round Robin with the middle appliqued - one pieced border and then another appliqued
Can I machine quilt over applique also I am never quite sure what color to use if I have a light background an dark piecing

I am not a quilter but the quilter I have does not quilt in the applique but usually outlines it so it pops. As far as color do you want the quilting to stand out or the quilt? Good luck with your projects. I am working on a sampler QAG and it is turning out better than I thought it would. Not perfect by no means but am enjoying doing it.

I would probably quilt around the applique also, maybe use echo quilting if you feel like it needs some added interest. Good luck with your decision, and please show us what you do!

Quilt as Desired. Well, I desire to FMQ but am not good at it so I have to go with plan B.

The quilt book I have shows it done both ways--through the applique and around it. Depends on the look you want.

You can quilt over applique. I've found that using wonder under light works the best for my machines with not gumming up the needles(it will cause skipped stitches). I'm starting to not use fusible when I applique so I never have to worry about it. There are so many different ways of doing applique.
I've done both, quilted the applique and went around it. Both look fine. It just depends on the look you are going for.
