Hello,

My mother is an avid quilter. I know nothing about it so thought I might turn to other quilters for this question.

She has MS and is losing some of her fine motor skills. She does a lot of quilting by hand and is always dropping her needles and finding them in unfortunate places (if she finds them at all).

Is there such a thing as coloured quilting needles?

Thank you in advance!!

Can you paint them with red nail polish?

Or you can get an extending magnet from the hardware store, it looks a little like a small flashlite, it works great for finding pins on the carpet.

The magnet wand, or the one that extends would probably help pick up the needles. I use mine a great deal for pins and other metal things I drop.

I use the same thing. It's a magnetic rod and finds all my needles for me. I love it.

Thank you all so much for the advice! I think the magnetic wand is an excellent way to go - I never even thought of that. This way, she wouldn't have to even risk falling out of the chair.

Thanks again
