Default Combining cotton battings with poly

I've done this with baby quilts but not something as big as a king size. Does anyone else do this to increase the loft?
1/8 of an inch batting is pretty thin.

Youn don't have any problems with uneven shrinkage?? That would be my biggest concern..

when i want a lofty quilt i purchase batts that are 'lofty'
for a large quilt if you are going to use 2 batts they need to be ones that will shrink at the same rate- or be pre-washed (which i personally can not imagine doing)
polyester batts come in lofts up to 1"!
cotton batts tend to be fairly flat- but i have seen a couple that were much loftier than 1/8"...i think the loftiest cotton batt i've seen was 3/8"

Yes, I know lots of quilters who do this especially for show quilts. They use a cotton batting for the base and wool batting on top. The quilts turn out beautiful but very, very warm and heavy!
