confused about cutting 30 degree angles
help! I have a herringbone pattern from CeeCee Sew Much that says to cut all my prints into 7" x 2.5 " pieces---then cut a 30 degree angle on each end of EACH PIECE. then assemble them--sewing 3 --2.5" pieces one on top of the other and finish with a 1.25" piece on top of that. I want to make this as simple as can be and it seems like a LOT OF WORK to cut each piece separately and then cut all those angles. I tried strip piecing the four pieces together and then cut 30 degree angels. I did something wrong because the sample blocks are not the same size. the strip pieced block came out 2"larger. I need help

If you want to strip piece, then cut the angle you will be wasting some fabric unless you stagger the strips as you assemble your strip set. What I would do is cut the pieces whatever length you are told, then cut the angle at one end (you can stack at least 4 pieces), assemble the herringbone, then cut the edges.
