Connecting Threads Batik
#4
my batiks from connecting threads have not run very much yet. Reds do tend to be notorious as bleeders. If you are worried about them bleeding do a test in the sink. if they bleed wash with retayne. I just wash mine in the sink till they run clear. I haven't used any of the setters like retayne or synthorpe yet. but will be biting the bullet soon on them.

What Color catcher did you use? The sales person at Connecting Threads said I would not need to pre-wash because their Batiks do not fade or bleed. But, I've read so much on hear about pre-washing, I'm a little afraid not to.

I use the Shout color catcher. It works for me if I prewash. I am not a prewash person though. Might have to on my red and burgundy batiks. Have had good luck with no bleeding on my batik quilts and I have done many. My favorite fabric. I do have retayne to use in teh sink to soak. If it bleeds the sink is great for washing out with lots of cold water.
