I used to buy cookie cutters specifically for quilting. They were never going to see dough, just fabric.

We have a vendor that consistently sets up at our biannual quilt show and sells cookie cutters advertising them as great applique templates. She has hundreds of them, and they are very cute. :)

Oh that's a great idea! I was thinking of making something ornament-ish for the kids to put on the tree this year!

What a great and creative use for cookie cutters. I can use them all year instead of just the holidays. Thanks.

They also make good templates for hand quilting; I like to use them around borders.

I've used a lot of cookie cutters for FMQ and they work great! I've also gotten a number of those little wooden cutouts from Michaels. They're by the paints and about 4".
Haven't seen these this year, but sometimes they have 10-12" wood cutouts - snowflakes and gingerbread men. They work great too!
