I think of D9P or any quilt done with squares or strips. I wonder what a double wedding ring (traditional wedding quilt) done with a darker background and lighter ring pieces might look like.

your daughters color choices just ''scream'' LOG CABIN!!! her color choices on the dark side with creams on the light side. there are a lot of really great layout choices....maybe let her choose the one she likes best!!

see if your library has a book by Thimbleberries and have her look it over for one that meets what she is thinking of.

Yes, the Kansas Troubles lines are so beautiful and so country! I second the nomination!

Likewise the mention of Kim Diehl - I just got her latest book before Christmas and it's eye candy on every page. She does a lot of applique', though - do you like applique'?

Does she mean "country" as in "traditional?" Or country as in "primitive?"

Yup, I was also going to suggest using the Kansas Troubles...it is country, through and through. My favorite.
