I got these in my seminars yesterday and thought maybe someone could use a helpful hint or two...

When free motion quilting, or learning how:
Use the slowest machine speed and then Floor it!

To keep quilts a bit more stable when quilting...you know how they like to slide off the table...
Put a vinyl table cloth upside down on the table, with flannel side up and the quilts won't want to slide off the edge of the table.

Hope this helps someone. I will be trying these!

Good tip - I have had that happen more than once!

Thanks for the tips. I found the small square flannel backed tablecloths on sale for .50 each last week and bought a bunch not knowing what I'd use them for. :D You know the saying? A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs, a woman will pay $1 for a $2 item she doesn't need because it's on sale.

Great tips. I'm digging out the tablecloths I bought for camping next year and putting them to use now.

Great tips, I found that if I lay my cutting mat on my sewing table next to my machine I don't have the problem of it slipping off the edge either :D

That's a good way to burn up your machine motor.........If you start smelling a burning smell........better let her rest..

I'm sorry, but that really bothers me that someone would even make that suggestion to anybody, no offense to you, KO24, it was something you were told. I also wonder if they sell sewing machines and need to make a few sells.........geeeeeeeeeeeeeeze.

Off my soap box now.

That's a little scary.

Thanks for the tips. Did you go to the Quilt Expo in Puyallup?

I just attended a retreat two weeks ago and the girls were using the vinyl flannel backed table cloths as design boards. I myself thought this was a great idea.
