I would like the name of this pattern please.... the squares are 6 inchs.. and on two opposite sides I placed and sewed from one corner to the opposite corner a square 3 and a quarter inches.... like a snowball but two corners only....and cut the excess off... if I leave it like that it is a stretched star but I want to put every second one facing the previous one... that makes a square and the inside square is on points... that is the only way I can describe it... has anyone a name for that please?

Not quite there yet.... looked up the xquisite block and where they have black and white, I have black and black.... THEN, I had a brainwave and turned every second block a quarter of a turn. which gave a zig zag down every row from top to bottom..., which gave me a black square in the middle.... and I am wanting to know the name of that block please.... also every 6 inch block is a different autumn colour...(16 colours) repeated... just wondering if it would be too "busy" for that pattern.... doesn't look too bad but has anyone done that before and how did it come out colourwise?

it's possible there won't be a name for that block until you give it one. you may have stumbled into an original design. :P

call it Joy de'Vive

These two patterns came to mind when I read your discription.

Shooting Star - I found this on quilterscache.com/S/ShootingStar Block.

The other pattern is on HGTV. The quickest way to find this for me was to type in "Moorish Four-Patch Quilt" in the http line. Be sure to use the quotes and I went right to the site. Scroll down to Figure H. It's small but it's an interesting design.

Hope this helps. :D

Thank you for that..... have a look at "G"... where the black zig zag lines are I have coloured patterned material... one line zig zagged from top to bottom.... the next line facing opposite way, zig zagged from top to bottom, the third one facing the same as the first one and the fourth one facing the same way as the second one.... now I have to go back to look at the name...... not my day today.... I couldn't find out where I had been and had to come back to this site......
