Crazy Quilt
I made a crazy quilt several years ago and set it together with deep burgundy velveteen. I put it on my kitchen counter to tie it and when I finished, the entire front of my shirt had burgundy color on it. I went back to JoAnn Fabric where I purchased the velveteen and they were less then sympathetic. Does any one have any ideas as to what I can do with it. If I send it to the dry cleaners will it also bleed from that process? Help!

What a shame. Velveteen is a cotton fabric, subject to both shrinking and bleeding. Pre-washing would have been a good idea, but that's not very helpful now. The color that came off on your shirt will probably come out in the wash, but that probably isn't what you're worried about. What is the rest of your crazy quilt made of? Would the whole thing be washable, with a bunch of color catchers or synthrapol? Is it to be a wall hanging, in which case it doesn't matter if the color bleeds?

I would wash it at the laundry mat in a jumbo washer with 3 or 4 Color Catchers. I made some quilts for my Granddaughters a few years ago with a red backing and the color was coming off on my white sewing machine as I FMQ. I used Color Catchers and had no issues afterwards with bleeding, running , etc. Good luck.
