I've seen all the posts about "scraps" and just curious if any of you have done crazy quilting? This was something I was really interested in trying long ago but never have. I thought it would be fun to do really unique top stitching designs, as well as using different shapes of fabric that were far from the average square. I dont see them much out there tho... Anyone? :)

I have made several crazy quilts. You can see some of them on the Pictures menu - Just a few, More quilts I have made and Even more quilts I have made.

I don't use a pattern, I start with a pentagon shape and just start adding strips and odd shapes like a log cabin. I often use prom dress that already have the beads and embroidery done on the fabric. They are a lot of fun to do. I also use the decorative stitches on the seams and always add a spider web somewhere because the Victorians considered them good luck. I wonder why?

I like making crazy quilts, they are very liberating, and I like the hand work. I create my own embroidery designs, and I steal ideas off CQ listings on Ebay.

Pollyv9, thanks for the "prom dress" idea I never thought of that.
