My interpretation of sewing room vs studio just raises the level of sewing to more of an art and many people that sew are really fearful of being artists, which they indeed are. Why not raise the level of what we do rather than saying I sew. Creating quilts in a studio has more richness and sence of quality to it and isn't that what we all strive for. Even if our studio is the dining room table it is still your studio where you create art. If we say we are successful and act in a successful way we are more likely to do be more successful in all we do.

It is not hoity toity, snobish, or being better than others.

It is a state of mindfulness and allows me to perform better.

I appreciate all the responses. It's really interesting to hear how people think about not just a space to sew in, but how they interpret their space. I'm glad I asked because now I have a different perspective . I have to admit, this was really fun!

My sewing space is in every room except bathroom and kitchen, in my 2 bedroom cottage.

My hubby calls mine a sewing studio, because he has a recording studio....so...whatever makes him happy - after all, he built it for me, so he can call it whatever he wants !! .I call it both my studio and my sewing room. I recently took over the gym room (which was moved upstairs) to make room for my HQ Sweet Sixteen, and that room has been dubbed The Annex.....
My sister calls her sewing room Her Happy Place.
