Default Cut Charm Squares - What were they for?

I just received a large pile of charm squares that were cut on a diagonal. At first, I thought they were just scraps left from some project but as I started looking, I realized they were really charms. They also mostly appear to be from the same fabric line.

I don't have a wide ranging experience with different types of quilts. Can anyone suggest what the original owner's intent might have been with these?

Looks as though you could swap one of each of the colors, sew them together for a wonky square. Are there more like that, or are the rest squares?

No, there were a lot of them - all cut this way.

Wonky pinwheel was my thought, too.

Boy, I have never seen so many intelligent people as there are on this board. Whatever question you might have, there is always someone to give a perfect answer. Good going! Barny

Yes, 8 just made one of these. My pattern called them whirligigs instead of pinwheels, but they look exactly the same. Four matching pieces in each of two colors, will make one block. They are easy and fun.

Thank you! And I found a tutorial there, as well. This is just great.
