Default Patterns for Batiks

I have a lot of different batiks that I'd like to use in a scrappy quilt. I want a pattern that will not only showcase each fabric, but will blend together to make a beautiful quilt. Can any of you suggest a pattern that would make my Batiks "knock 'em dead"? I plan on entering it in the County Fair next summer.

I love love stained glass quilts using batiks - they really seem to glow!

I saw a storm at sea in batiks with a piano key border done by a quilter in my class at LQS - it was blackish background and jewel tone batiks. Wow!

Shadowbox showcases batiks nicely. If you have good contrasts, Bento box can be pretty too.

I love Batiks and often use them in quilts that featured traditional fabrics. Find a pattern that has one background and then make the batiks scrappy. The batiks will stand out from the background. If you use earth tones, or jewel tones then they will blend nicely.

Almost any pattern will shine with batiks. I am currently in the Tula Pink 100 Blocks City Sampler BOM at one of my LQS's and doing it in a scrappy batik style. They are 6.5" blocks and I am just picking out batiks from my scraps, FQ's in my stash, and a few other fat eighths and FQs that I have bought.

It looks pretty good so far.

Sorry about the first 3 photos. I don't know why they have that blue cast. The colors of the blocks are pretty close to the real colors.

I love batiks! I have found that if I use multi color batiks, I need to use a cream color batik to pull everything together. So any pattern will do, the more colors the better.

Maybe you want to take on a Judy Neimeyer pattern or Jacquelean DeJonge .

One of the most beautiful quilts made from Batiks that I ever saw, was a braid, and I think I saw it on this board. It was stunning, and really show cased the fabrics. Personally I think the simpler the pattern when using Batiks the better. But thats just my opinion.
