Default cutting flannel with a rotary cutter

Does cutting flannel with a rotary cutter dull the blade? I just put a new blade in and now I realize I will be cutting flannel next. Should I put the old blade back in until I am through with my flannel?

I don't know about the blade, but it sure messes up your cutting mat. All that fuzz gets stuck in the grooves your cutter makes.

Hmmm, maybe I'll just use scissors...

    Thanks.

I thought it did dull the blade, but it was well worth it for the large & small flannel quilts I have made. LMy hands would have rebelled if I had tried to use scissors.

It is much easier to cut with a new blade! And, starch makes it much less likely to leave any fuzz on your cutting mat. I use a lot of flannel, have never damaged my cutting mat. Have found a new blade sure makes for easier, more precise cuts

Most of the flannel is cotton so I don't think it would dull your blade any more than other fabric. Anyway i always use my rotary cutter for flannel and recently cut 8 kits for lap size rag quilts for a class that I was giving. It also depends on the mat that you are using. Of course you eventually need to change your blade.

I always cut flannel with my rotary cutter, unless I'm cutting a plaid piece-by-piece to keep the print straight.

I always use my rotary cutter for flannel. I haven't noticed it dulling the blade. Whenever I replace the blade in my rotary cutter I love the ease of cutting so much that I wish I would have changed it sooner!

I just use my rotary. It won't dull the blade anymore than any other cotton flannel or fabric. I use a microfiber cloth on my mat after I'm finished cutting. helps to pick up that lint

It sure made a mess of my rotary mat. Not sure if it actually dulled the blade.
