    Default Cutting issue

I was prepping my FQ for a turning twenty quilt when I took a phone call. After measuring the material twice before the cut, it never occurred to me that I switched my rotary in my other hand. : ( So, I no longer have the 6 1/2 x 10 1/2 piece.
I am wondering if it would be noticeable to sew the two sections together to achieve my 6 1/2 x 10 1/2 width. How many of you would do this to make it work? I can't believe I did this to my beautiful fabric!

I would piece fabric if I loved it and wanted it in the quilt. I would try to make the seam as transparent as possible (ie: line up and sew using the "repeat" if it is a print). Since you have such a small amount in a fat quarter this might not be possible. Antique quilts quite often have fabrics that are stitched together to make a large enough piece of fabric. Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.

I piece together like fabric all the time for patchwork. You paid for it, use it how you wish. I think it also makes a quilt more interesting and personal. anyone can buy and put together perfect fabric

I made that or a yellow brick road and had washed my fat qtrs. that meant at least one wasn't the size needed for cuts on the pattern. i had to make do. it worked well for me. I was needing 2 1/2 inch cuts and didn't have enough, so i sewed two different color strips together to make the strips needed. looked planned.

I had one border on the quilt top I am working on now that I pieced. All my blocks were done except the last one as I was short one of the fabrics. It was a mottled burgundy fabric and I pieced it together. The seam is almost invisible and I am going to make sure I put a quilting line through the join to further disguise it. Unless your quilt is going to be judged, I would piece it. Some judges frown on a piece fabric, some not.
