Is there an easier way to cut long strips of material ratehr than tearing them. I recently made a baby blanket and had to cut 4 strips 72 in. long. I did tear them and that seemed to work but can you cut that length by folding the material so it fits on the cutting board?

If you are careful not to disturb your fabric, you could slide your cutting mat along the legnth of fabric you are cutting as you need more mat area. Use your ruler to keep your fabric straight, not the lines on your cutting mat.

If your rotery cutter can handle it fold your fab six times thick, you'll have 12 inches to cut on your mat, 6 layers thick. It can be done.

You're the brave one, Debbie! :D I'm usually afraid my fabric will look like I cut it with hedge clippers if I layer it more than 4 deep!!
