Default cutting mats

Seems to me that (some time ago) someone mentioned purchasing another type of cutting mat (not from a sewing/craft store) It was said (I think) that they can be large and all I can think of is "drafting mat". But I can't find the reference. Can anyone help with the info?

I think they are drafting mats used by architects, made by Alvin.
