Cutting plaids or stripes

when you are cutting material such as plaids or stripes is it OK to cut it with the lines on the material so your patterns look nicer or do you go by the grain? Thanks

Plaids and stripes are like any other material...they too have bias edges. If you want to achieve a more uniform or tailored look.then you can cut along specific lines. Straight of grain works best but as long as you remember it may be on the bias...go for it. In the end it is all a design choice. :D

Plaids and stripes that miss their mark drive me crazy. I think they look much better cut to the pattern on the fabric, even if it is a little off grain.

Ditto!! They stand out way too much when not cut on the pattern line. But, as Sandra said, beware of the bias...
