Default D9p

After having 3 back surgeries in a little over a year I am finally feeling like I can begin to quilt again (meaning climbing the stairs to get to my "quilt room") LOL. Has anyone made the D9P using 10" squares rather than the 5" and, if so, did you like it. I could go ahead and make one but I don't like wasting fabric and that is why I am seeking advise. Thank you.

Dixie

The largest I've used were 8" squares as the corner squares had a scene in it that I wanted to preserve. I was very pleased with the quilt. I'm getting ready to make one from 8-1/2 - 9" squares So I can fully utilize FQs. I find using 5" squares makes the quilt too busy for me.

I never thought of using a Layer Cake for that. I bet it would look Great. But is would be a really big block.

My thought was to use it as a table topper. I think I will try it with some Christmas layer cakes I have. I appreciate the replies I have received. Thank you so much.

Not D9P, but if you are looking for an easy pattern, check the Double Slice
on Missouri Star Quilt Co.

It would be a great way to showcase the fabric.

MQC has a pattern that uses a layer cake with sashing between the blocks and then cut in 4 pieces and put together. Three sets of 9 and a border made a beautiful quilt. Easy peasy and looks nice. I think its called Slice of Life and it was in a Block magazine.
