Default Dallas/Fort Worth Area

So the DH (my fabric mule) just started a new contract in Fort Worth, Texas (Yay!! for many reasons!) and he wants me to spend American Thanksgiving weekend there with him. Plus, he's already got tickets for a Cowboys game. (No, I am not a fan of American football, but I am happy to go with him if it makes him happy, since I can then claim equal time for quilt fabric shopping.)

I am hoping that there are a few people on the board, who can point me to the best store(s) to visit. I would much rather visit a recommended store than blindly pick from a Google list. And if there happened to be some sort of Quilt Show going on that weekend, well, that would just be icing on my cake!!

Thanks in advance, for any info you folks can give me.

I don't know about a quilt show but these stores I really like and would recommend. Country Stitches may be a little far but they have a great selection of "western" fabric. When I travel, I like to get what I can't at home.

Never been to Dallas, only to Houston. Have fun and welcome to the US. You might want to make sure to bring an extra piece of luggage or fewer clothes because from what I have heard, our prices are much lower !! If you haven't gone to a football game before, you will have fun. It is so different from watching it at home. You might want to watch a few games to get the jest of the game so you are not totally bored. Most of the players will look like the size of Lego people on grass.

Sorry - I'm not familiar with quilt shops in Ft. Worth --- but if you have the time - a trip to the Stockyards is well worth it. I think you'd really enjoy the shops and restaurants there. You can google "Fort Worth Stockyards" for more information. Billy Bob's is world famous.
Hope you'll have a great time!!!

Thanks so much for all the info. I have been lucky enough to have visited several states over the last few years. Dh usually comes home every week end, but he likes if I can visit so that we can play tourist once and a while. As to American football, I've been to a few games over the years, just prefer the Canadian version. I shall be checking out the shops you have recommended as well as The Stockyards and I know DH will be talking to his co-workers too. I really appreciate all your help.
