Default Dear Jane + 2 1/2 strips question

Another question, since all of you have been so helpful when I asked about the software for DJ - would 2 1/2 inch strips of fabric be a useful size to have for piecing these blocks? I have been thinking of buying a bunch of coordinated solids and thought maybe since the pieces are so small, that the strips would be a good way to go?
Thoughts????
Thanks for your assistance, in advance!

What is a DJ.please? If I knew block could help.just realised DJ is dear Jane .
Having made some of these blocks I would have found 21/2 inch too wide. A big bag
Of scraps was my answer with a load of colours which would not be in stripes.
Don't forget DJ was a frugal quilt when fabric was very expensive. Use cotton dresses
Etc.

Thanks for the response, just waiting for my disk to arrive so I can print paper piecing blocks. My friend who lives quite a distance from me will be working on her quilt while I work on mine. Sort of a mutual project. Neither of us has settled on what we will do re fabric.

I would imagine that if you're paper piecing the 2-1/2-inch strips would be more than adequate, and you should have plenty of scraps with them once you get started. So, if you have a particular jelly roll design in mind, I bet it would be lovely. I've been thinking about doing a DJ too. Have the book and disk...just haven't picked out the fabrics yet. Keep us posted on your progress

Christine, thanks for the feedback. It is reassuring.
I have the book, the CD (thanks to DH not knowing what to buy me for Christmas)and I have a light mottled caramel background fabric and a few strip sets of mottled solids in earth and garden tones.
Just waiting for the tech guru to load the software onto my notebook (it doesn't have a disk drive, so he will load to a thumbdrive for me to transfer).
This is a quilt companion project, my friend who lives quite a ways away will be simultaneously working on hers, if she can make her mind up between cream/reds combo, or light green background with small floral prints. She has been pondering possibilities for at least 3 weeks. I get to tease her about it because we've been best friends for so long. . . .
