Hi aussiequilter from another also in Victoria Mornington way. I have just discovered the DJ quilt but will only be handpecing where I have to. Have you started and have found out which medium is best to use? ozecb

I have read a lot of posts on this but am still unsure what to use that is soft enough to stitch through and tear away yet firm enough to accurately draw the blocks on. I also didn't want to have to wash the quilt to dissolve anything later if I could help it.
I have the Dear Jane software which will make it a little easier.
Also, does anyone have an estimate of the amount of background fabric they used? Estimates seem to vary wildly.
Clues from other Boarders on this would be greatly appreciated before I start on this mega-task.
Thanks heaps in advance.

ozecb, if you want to start your DJ, why don't you join the group? We have a group of folks here on the board and we are all working on one for ourselves. We are working together so we can compare notes, tips and whine about the blocks together. Here is where we started, but you can jump right in anywhere.. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-28063-1.htm We've had several join us and just start on the current week in the schedule so they are sewing with us, then they catch up on the earlier blocks as they can...hope to see you there!
There is a ton of information on the threads about fabric choices, papers for pp'ing, etc...
