Hi everyone. Someone posted a site in WA. on here and they had the cutest wool pattern of geraniums in a crock. I fell in love with it and ordered it. Now, what I am wanting to know is if someone could tell me if I could dye some red wool I have with Kool Aid or Easter egg tablets in order to make the red look mottled or marbled? I don't have any of the special dyes that you use. Just thought possibly one of these might work. What color/colors would I use and how do I go about doing it? Thanks anyone for your help. Can't wait to get started on this pattern. Joyce :)

i would just go to joanne or hancocks and buy some RIT or Dylon dye in the color red that you like.

these dyes would be more permanent then food coloring dyes.

Food coloring works asong as you acid set it. I use vinegar and a generous glug as I prep my fiber. To get a mottled look prewet the fiber sprinkle with Kool aid and microwave. Handspinners use both moolaid and Wilton dyes all the time.
