I used felt to cover my design boards I have 2 = 3'x 5', I could never remember felt or flennal. Well it works I prop my board against the wall, place my squares on the board press the top of the blk gently. It stayes put days for a long time.

One my new design wall (see this post

Just toss a cheap vinyl tablecloth over your drapery rod and the blocks stick like magic to the back of the tablecloth.
Of course, your house probably looks pretty tacky from the outside, but it will work for a bit in a pinch.
