Default Designing quilts instead of sleeping

For the past week or so I have not been able to sleep very well.

The reason for the lack of sleep is because I can't turn my brain
off long enough to sleep. All I can think about is quilting, which
fabrics I have that I can use in each quilt that I am designing in
my mind.

But by the time I wake/get up in the morning my brain has lost
all the images and designs, all I can remember is that it was a
great design.

Do you have that say issue also?

LOL

I get up and write down my ideas then go back to bed and sleep. Sometimes in the morning they are good but sometimes not so much.

Happens to me all the time. Sometimes I like what I design in the early hours; sometimes not. Or, I think about the quilt I am currently working on. And how I might change it up the next time I make it.

Sometimes I'll not be able to fall asleep with patterns running through my head. I'm in a block swap and if I spent much time looking through quilters cache ... I'll have "block brain" by the end of the night with squares and triangles fighting for competition with slumber!! These are unproductive unconscious images, nothing of substance worth retaining.

Sometimes it will just be ideas ... especially quilting motifs. Came up with a doozy the other night and remembered it and it was just the ticket for that quilt. These are productive unconscious images - and I do usually retain them in the morning.

For a while I was having trouble sleeping cause in my mind I was designing and doing the math! Ugg Math is not a favorite of mine so sometimes it would put me to sleep

Sleeping is so overrated. Who has time to sleep when there are quilts to be made?

I design purses in my sleep.I've often had a problem with a design and wake up knowing how to accomplish what I want. The mind is a wonderful thing.

I have had trouble getting to sleep as far back as I can recall. It isn't as much of a problem now that I am retired. Yes, I open my QuiltPro and start designing. So far, I am about 5000 quilts ahead of construction, but it is quieter than doing housework.

Thought I was the only one!! I not only see quilts, But I try to figure out yardage, pieces and meausrements!! I found the only way to help this is to keep a notebook at my bedside..I jot down my ideas etc. so I don't forget them... But this doesn't help me get to sleep too much..Luckily I don't have to get up for work!

I used to worry about not having enough sleep. When I worked I was often so tired by the time I finally got to bed that I couldn't fall asleep. But now that I'm retired, the no-sleep pattern still pops up now and then. But I can nap when I want to (and then stay awake that night because I had a nap). This morning I was up at one o'clock(It's 3:50 AM here right now). So I've paid bills and then have been on the QB ever since. It's so nice to have something to do instead of flipping TV channels or tossing and turning. And I'm learning all the time. And yes, I do think about quilt patterns, etc. when I wake during the night. Right not I've got a problem to solve (I've sent in a new thread concerning applique letters), but until I get that conquered, I'll be working on something else and following along on the QB.
