ARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

There! I feel better! :lol: I tried for over an hour last night to use a narrow rolled hemmer to hem some silk that I bought for my son's "wildrags" that I am making for his birthday. Thought maybe I was doing something wrong, but couldn't figure it out since I've used the hemmers sucessfully before. Set the silk aside and picked up a piece of scrap muslin...zipped right through it with a PEFECT hem!!
I broke down and took the silk to the ironing board and hand rolled the hems.

Silk is so beautiful, but often uncooperative!

I really wanted scraps from these two silks, I'm saving for a velvet/silk crazy quilt...now I'm not so sure that I want to use silk! LOL!!

it can not be on the bias edge..it really won't work well..
sewing it normally it is still best to use a tricot fusible interfacing on it!

Neither of the wildrags were done on the bias, and now that I've worked with it, I'm thinking that "bias" and "silk" are two words that do NOT go together!! :lol:

How about sizing or starch?

silks really need stablizer unless using very fine silk pins and needles-then you have to go slow- but stablizer is the key to successfully working with silks.
