I'm new here, but does the other side of the fabric look that bad? Sometimes I have purposely used the underside because it was more "mellow" (can't think of another word).

I would consider that Mplsgirl, but it is actually a pieced heart that I was going to applique, so my 'wrong side' is a whole bunch of seam lines.

But thank you so much everybody for your comments. They made me chuckle and now I don't feel so silly. Well, maybe I do; but at least I'm not silly alone. :oops: :lol:

Check for an "800" number or a website that you can contact. Maybe they have some ideas for getting it off.

I don't think you can undo the under wunder :wink: sorry, but hope you can find a solution.

I buy this product , De-Solv-It, at WalMart. It removes a whole lot of stuff. It disolves the sticky stuff that stays behind when labels are removed. All kinds of things. I've never tried it on the wonder-under dilemma cuz I rarely use it, but it would be worth a try. And then you'd have the stuff in your pantry for when you have other things to remove. (I've used it on my iron for starch buildup, etc.) Good luck.

I have also ironed it to my iron board cover, my iron, and onto itself. I swear the stuff is like superglue. :roll:

Yep!! I'm guilty. Just have to throw the whole thing out and start over. I never found a way to get it off once it is ironed on. Also got it on my iron a time or two and bought "iron off" at Joann's and that stuff works wonder to clean an iron. Marge

Set the shirt spot-down on a clean waste cloth (cotton preferably), and iron a little longer than you did to apply the appliques in the first place. Don't overdo it, but get the area nice and hot. Repeat if necessary until the waste cloth has absorbed the excess adhesive.

To prevent lifting in future, be sure to use the minimum time recommended, let cool, and re-iron the spots necessary. Over-ironing weakens the adhesive and makes it run, which is the principle behind removing the adhesive spots.
It is possible to remove the applique but there's no guarantee you will remove all the glue. If you want to try it here's what to do:

Heat the applique back up with an iron (to re-melt the glue) and be sure to remove it while hot. This might leave a white adhesive residue when cool. If this happens try the following: Take a piece of clean cotton and place the pocket face down on it. Press a hot iron on the pocket, pressing for a bit longer than you did to adhere the applique. Peel it away from the cotton. Move the cotton over to a clean spot. Repeat until the glue has been absorbed into the cotton. (You can do this with wax too).

Removing Fused Interfacing

To remove interfacing that has been fused in place, hold a steam iron over interfacing for 5 - 10 seconds. Immediately peel off the interfacing. If it is still adhered, set the iron on the interfacing, but do not use pressure. To remove any fusing agent that remains on the fabric, cover it with a damp, lightweight fabric scrap and press. Peel off while warm. Continue with new scraps until all the adhesive can be removed by sponging the area with rubbing alcohol--but be sure the fabric or dye will not be affected.

I've never ironed it to the wrong side of the fabric, but I've hit the glue side with the iron and ironed it to itself. :oops:
