Well, the second DIL to-be has picked out her pattern of choice! I have been wanting to try a bargello quilt for awhile and now....have my chance!

As soon as the pattern comes in, we will start picking fabrics. She likes grays, blues and greens as well as teal, chocolates and greens. I am anxious to see what she picks for colors! The designer recommends tonals for this pattern and he uses Shadowplay. I really like the Shadowplay collection.

The wedding isn't until June, but never having worked with Bargello, I am anxious to get started on it. I finished the oldest son's wedding quilt top in 4 months of work, a lot of learning new processes with it. And, it was a batik and I had never worked with batiks before---love them now!

When I was posting the progress on the first wedding quilt (in March) people were saying I was going to have to top that one with the second son's (in June). I think she did it!

Please post pictures of you making it.

I'm still working on the top one. It may get done in 4 years. LOL

BOTH of them are great! I LOVE the colors in the top quilt. What is the pattern?

The older son's quilt is gorgeous! I absolutely love the pattern and the colors. Congratulations on getting it done. The bargello will be lovely too, but I don't see it topping that first quilt.

The first one is absolutely beautiful and I'm sure the second one will be, too. Can't wait to see it. (I wish I had a DIL to be. My sons are not cooperating with my plan!) :D :D

The first is just the top for now. Charisma is going to be doing the quilting for me! It is Tonga, Nature quilt. The second is a Dereck Lockwood pattern called Lover's Knot!

    Thanks for the comments!

I like the bargello pattern she picked. It looks like that one is worked in quads then the 4 sections are pieced together. That would be my guess anyway :)

I would be tempted to make the two hearts in a single color range with single contrasting outer border monotone range. The pattern as printed has 3 color ranges for the hearts.

but ... as you can see from my avatar .. I love using monotones for bargello :)
