Which direction is better for fmq? pushing the quilt away from you or toward you? thanks

I seemed to have better luck when I pulled it toward myself. I am new at FMQ so there may be a better way.

You may need to do it both ways, depending on where the next area to be quilted is. Sometimes even side to side.

I pull towards me, away from me and side to side. I much prefer my motion when I am pulling it towards me. I can see where I have been and don't worry about crossing over stitches. It's a personal preference.

It is easier to see what you are doing when you pull away from you and side to side :D:D:D
