Question Disappearing 9 patch advice, please

I have used up all my scrappy squares and made 9 patch blocks, and then cut them for a D9P. I am excited to start sewing, but my question is: Do all the squares from the same 9 patch block need to stay together, or can I use them each as their own block and put it anywhere. This quilt is so so soooooooooooo scrappy. I will post pictures once I get some of it worked up.

Any advice or options are helpful.

Thank you!

Lay them out and see how they look.

Scramble them up! My D9P's are never any particular order of color or pattern. I don't think there are any rules with D9P

Thanks, I didn't really think there was, unless you are being diligent about color. I guess I just needed the vote of confidence to go for it.

You can go over to the pictures section of QB and find the Quilt Gallery sticky. There are about 25 Disappearing 9 patch quilt pictures there to look at that might give you some ideas of different lay outs.

You can be organized and then you may NOT be organized. It is what you want the quilt to look like. No rules dealing with D9P.

Thank you for that, I didn't know you could look them up by type. That was very helpful.

It is such a versatile pattern, anything goes that you like. Some look great totally random and others look great when laid out to make a repeating pattern, stair steps, etc. have fun playing with your blocks to find the right one for you!

Agree.. No one rule on layout. Quilter's choice in color, layout. So many choices...just have fun.
