Default Mariner's Compass

Need to find a pattern for a Mariner's Compass quilt. Would prefer to paper piece it. Don't care how complex the pattern is. I love paper piecing. Any suggestions? Thanks so much

There are many available. QuiltSmart has one that is great, I've used theirs many times. It is on fusible interfacing a great method for perfect results.
Ginny Beyer has some great lone star patterns. So does Carol Doak ( paper piecing ones)

Google it. Go to images. I like to do the "No tear freezer paper piecing"

What size are you looking for? My avitar is paper pieced one by Virginia Robertson but it is wall hanging size. The pattern suggested that it could be used as a center for a larger quilt however.

It was not difficult and I was very pleased with how it turned out

Hi highly recommend this book:

https://www.amazon.com/Mariners-Comp...g+a+new+course

Not only does she have patterns in the book for several different styles of MC but she also teaches you how to draft your own so you can make any size you want. If you buy the book used, make sure it contains the extra pattern insert that makes some oversized compass and stars as well as an oval compass in two different styles. Judy also goes over the freezer paper method which I found to be more efficient than traditional PP because you can reuse pattern pieces and no tearing away of paper is involved.

I made this quilt using Judy's book

I'm just finishing Judy Niemeyer's 'Vintage Compass' - I've loved it.

Welcome to a fellow Mariner's Compass (also called Compass Rose) addict.

Moon glow by Jonny Beyer is a collection of 12 variations on the Mariners's Compass set with a variation of a log cabin block. The mariner's compass blocks are paper pieced. I have pieced this quilt but it hasn't yet reached the front of the line for quilting and binding.

Just found this interesting variation: https://betukbandi.wordpress.com/tag...ck-off-centre/

Carol Doak has a book of 24 Mariner's variations.

Here is a stained glass version: https://equiltpatterns.com/Stained-G...ss-Quilt-Block

Judy Niemeyer's Vintage Compass and Mariners Compass are beautiful patterns.

Cheryl Phillips 3D Mariner's Compass can't be paper pieced, but is another interesting variation.

Judy Mathieson's book is available from Amazon.com or can be purchased via C&T publishing as a print-on-demand edition. Her Nautical Stars launched my obsessed journey with Mariner's Compass quilts.

Thank you. I need to make a king size bed quilt. Will try and find a pattern for king size. I am just not talented in designing quilts. Love to make them but seldom design one.
