My Pfaff doesn't need oil except for around the bobbin holding area. Just keeps that part smooth.

Yes all machines require oil. Look in the center of your bobbin case..is there a small white wick? If there is just put a drop or two of oil on it. Make sure it is sewing machine oil, nothing else will work right. Other areas may need oiling, you will want to check with your local repairman.

look in your manual to sew where it shows you to oil!

Alot of the newer machines are only checked/oiled when you take them in to be serviced. They are sealed some how, and you can't get to the areas yourself like the older models.

I would check your manual to see what the manufacturer suggests on this, to keep your warranty intact.

My Brother is completely sealed- I couldn't oil it if I wanted to, since it would mean dismantling it. But frankly, I love the Juki in part because I can see all the mechanics and even though she drinks oil like a drunken sailor drinks rum, she runs better than the sealed Brother on its best day.
