I bought this book: Quilts of a Different Color
by Irena Bluhm and it has everything you need to know about coloring a quilt/fabric using colored pencils, crayons, chalks, watercolor pencils, gel pens, etc.
The name brand of fabric that takes the color and keeps it. It has beautiful pictures of colored quilts too.

I may be mistaken, but I think a month or so ago someone on this site made a dinasaur quilt. I think she said she got pictures from coloring book and colored them and maybe transferred them onto fabric. I remember the quilt was absolutely adorable. Does anyone else remember?? I am pretty sure this was the site.

Threads from the Heart has as notion of the week some Fabric Markers. It says they are permanent after drying for 24 hours. I haven't tried them.

The Medium used is a textile medium. I bought it at Walmart. Delta Ceramcoat Textile Medium. 8 oz. for about $5. If you add Versatex Fixer to the medium, you don't have to heat set the color. Dharma Trading company makes the Versatex Fixer. About $5.
