No-I buy fabric because I like it and it's a price I'm willing to pay, I'll figure out what to do with it later.LOL

I usually have a recipient in mind when I start (because if it's not for another person, it defaults to me!)

Short and sweet BW!
No for me also! I am bad about changing my mind in the middle of a quilt!

I buy fabric all the time and don't know what I will do with it. It comes to me eventually.

My daughter always wants to know, "What are you gonna do with that?" (whatever the latest project is) and I just shrug my shoulders and smile...

But I do make stuff for particular people/purposes -- like baby quilts or presents...

I'm all over the board on this one. Sometimes it all comes together (pattern, fabric, and recipient). Other times, it starts as an idea or a test and then it has to find an owner. Sometimes it starts and becomes a UFO.

Right now, I have a loooooong list of potential recipients who are all patiently wating their turn. However, the list just got shorter by one. My SIL is a useless twit and it'll be a cold day....well, you get the picture.

You said "project" not fabric, so... sometime yes, sometimes no. When purchasing fabrics and patterns most of time I have no idea what it will become or who for. But by the time I sort it with a pattern and start on it, I may have a person in mind. I have had to make a ton of wedding gifts and now baby gifts the last couple years so...... many of those had names on them by the time they were grouped together
