Default Do you ever use an ironing press?

My husband was recently in my sewing room while I was pressing some blocks and saw how many I was doing. He asked "Don't they have a small model ironing press that would make that faster for you?" Wellll! I thought that is a novel idea and wondered if anyone on the board has or ever used one? If so what kind? Knew this would be the place to go before ever buyong one!

Do you mean like a mangle (I think they're called)? No, I haven't ever tried one but I have lusted after one for eons. I remember seeing Elenor Burns used to use one on her show (back in tghe day) & I thought they seemed like such a good idea... if you could find one small enough. I'll be anxious to hear what others say about this.

I have one that I used for pressing window treatments when I was in that business. It would be good for pressing yardage or strips before seaming, but it would not do well for pressing seams IMO.

They are great when using fusible! I found new in box Singer brand at an estate sale for $25. I never really used it until a class I took had one available to use. I use it all the time for pressing binding, strips sets, blocking pre pressed quilt blocks and pressing fat quarters. [h=1][/h]

I had one it had limited use as , seams need more than just the top coming down and pressing flat how ever the seams lay. I had to press the seams then pressed again with the press...just got to be more work and more stuff taking up space.

What are the measurements of the press? How wide is it from left to right? How wide is it from top to bottom?
I mean the width of the pressing surface.

Thank you.
