Do you have fabric you like soo much you
#1
don't want to cut it?
I think maybe I just like the fabric and prints too much. I perfer STD, so as not to change the appearance of the print in the fabric. But I also have some fabric (more than one piece) that I really love, But everytime I think about using it in a quilt, I back off because I don't want to cut up the "big picture" of the print.
I'm fairly new to quilting and this may be a leftover from sewing clothes, where you bought material and ended up with a dress or something that had the whole effect of the fabric print.
I need to get over this and use some of my stash.
Do you have any qualms about using your fabric?

Yeah, I've even bought a couple of books about how to use those big prints I'm reluctant to cut and it hasn't helped too much...tho I have been working on one set of prints in different colorways that I'm fussy cutting, finally after about 10 yrs.
Can't offer too much help for you, just sympathy.

That's my suggestion too. Use the big block patterns. They have a wonderful look and you can still enjoy your favorite fabrics. Also use your favorite for the backing or a whole cloth quilt! The best of both worlds:) http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-146950-1.htm
This is another idea:)

There are a lot of patterns out there now that use large chunks of fabric. There are also many quilts posted here that do the same. Just keep an eye out for those and maybe you'll find something you really like and can have your fabric and a quilt too. Otherwise, just keep looking at and petting your favorite fabric - - nothing wrong with that.

A beautiful Oriental fabric with gold accents was the total center area
of my quilt, and has added half-square triangles on 2 sides using all the
individual colors in the print. One of my favorites!
Guess you would call it a "whole cloth" quilt ?

I have fabrics that won't get cut until the perfect pattern comes along LOL Not because they are all large prints, but I really love these fabrics, and I don't want to use them until the time is right :D:D:D
