Aurifil is my favorite.
I also like Mettler and have used a lot of Connecting Threads' Essential Thread.

Depends on the application. I like Connecting Threads threads, and I like Star variegated (which is from Coats and Clarks) Other than that, I like Guterman, Madeira, the Egyptian and whatever else is on sale. Once I bought some online and it sounded too good to be true. It was.

A lot depends on the machine too. Some machines are persnickety.

I really like Mettler thread but can be expensive - also the 100% cotton Coats and Clark - but it can be linty - my longarm I use Signature or Coats and Clark 100% cotton.
