...and what do you think? Is is nice to have, or is it something you would improve on with practice, or does it make a big difference?

I just bought a 1/4" foot which I love, and am wondering about the SID foot.

I like mine, but I use it for more than just quilting. :D

I was originally planning on getting one, until I got my walking foot. The walking foot makes such an improvement in my finished product, that I passed on the stitch in a ditch foot. Now if there was a way to use both at the same time, that could be interesting! :)

Mine works REALLY well with thicker fabrics like flannel and fleece. I have to be a little more careful with the regular cotton fabrics, but I sure don't climb out of the ditch as often.

I love, love, love my sid foot. Major improvement in straight lines.

i have a SID foot and i never use it any more.

i prefer a clear open toe foot for stitching in the ditch or applique work. i much prefer to see everything thats going on with the quilt and the stitching.

I don't have a stitch in the ditch foot. They sound like a good idea. Getting mixed reviews here.

I have one but haven't perfected the use yet. Also, the walking foot is so much better when you have 3 layers, I don't get why the SID is supposed to be good.

I just purchased a SID foot from Sears for my Viking. Works wonders keeping those stiches in the ditch.

A lot of machines use to come with this foot included. It wasn't called a stitch in the ditch foot until just a couple of years ago.
